The first Green Talent workshop is going to be held both in person in Athens, Greece, and online on 21 November 2025. This networking event, hosted by the Harokopio University of Athens, is a pivotal step in developing the Green Talent roadmap. This roadmap is a strategic plan aimed at identifying and addressing knowledge, competence, and skills gaps essential for tackling biodiversity loss and the climate crisis.

The event forms a central part of the co-design process for the GT initiative and complements the work carried out under Work Package 2 (WP2). This roadmap is being developed to align with policy and practice priorities at local, national, and regional levels across Europe, ensuring it directly supports sustainability goals and the transition to a greener economy.

The workshop gathers a wide range of participants, bringing together stakeholders from across Europe’s Widening Countries and non-Widening Countries.

  • Widening Countries will highlight their core needs and priorities, particularly in building expertise to combat biodiversity and climate challenges, as well as fulfilling reporting obligations under various policy frameworks.

  • Non-Widening Countries will act as benchmarks, sharing insights and best practices on the skills and competences that can help strengthen capacity within Widening Countries.

  • The workshop also welcomes representatives from the broader regional community, including EU institutions, major industries, and other stakeholders who benefit from biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.

Participants will engage in a series of facilitated exercises and focus group discussions designed to capture the needs, priorities, and success indicators of all involved parties. These inputs will feed directly into the final design of the Green Talent roadmap, ensuring it is both inclusive and action-oriented.

Beyond co-creating the roadmap, the workshop offers participants a valuable opportunity to network and collaborate with peers and decision-makers, contributing to a shared vision for a sustainable, skills-based transition across Europe.
